¿Cuáles son las normas del pádel?

What could have been a simple Padel match between friends ended up being a crossroads of disagreements between plays. On many occasions, disagreements during a Padel match are caused by a misinterpretation or ignorance of the Padel rules. This is aggravated when the rules of Padel are erroneously applied to Padel, something common in players who play Padel for the first time.

The correct application of the rules of Padel turns the game into a fun and, above all, orderly plan. The World Padel Tour professional circuit is governed by the rules of the International Padel Federation. In Spain, the wording of the official rules of the game corresponds to the Spanish Padel Federation (FEP). The rules that are set forth below are those contained in the Padel Game Regulations prepared by the FEP.

How to play Padel? Do you know the rules?

If you have been playing Padel for many years, probably many of the Padel rules that you will find here are not new to you. On the other hand, in Pádel ProShop we want all those rules that are minimally misleading, today to be resolved.

Before delving into the rules of the game, we will expose a series of technical specifications about the measurements of the field that all courts should comply with.

The measurements of the playing area are 10 meters wide and 20 meters long, yes, with a tolerance of 0.5%. In reference to the network, the FEP decrees that at its ends it rises up to 0.92 meters in height and does not exceed 0.88 meters in the central part.

The enclosures are a combination of glass, brick, metal mesh, etc. Specifically, the back of the playing area is 4 meters high, of which at least the first three are walls.

And on the side, the ends are built 3 meters high and the next two meters 2 meters high plus one of metal mesh. The rest of the sides are made up of fences up to 3 meters high.

Finally, on the surface, the FEP allows "porous concrete, cement, wood, synthetic materials, artificial grass, or any other that allows the regular bounce of the ball and avoids waterlogging."

Basic padel rules

Take Padel: Basic rules

The serve marks the start of each point. In Padel, the serve begins behind the service line and the server may not go beyond it until they have hit the ball. The player bounces the ball behind the line and hits at or below the waist. The norm emphasizes that during the serve the server will not be able to run or jump either.

The diagonal trajectory of the ball must pass over the net and bounce once inside the reception box, but if the ball hits the metal fence or goes out the court door, it will be considered a service fault.

The server has two chances to execute the serve. The repetition happens when the first serve has not passed the net or the ball touches the net and falls into the service area of the receiver or hits one of the players. In the event that the ball hits the net on the second attempt, the server will have one more opportunity to attempt the serve.

Rules of the game and types of shots

Once the ball is in play, the point does not end until one of the following situations occurs:

  • When the ball bounces on the ground twice.
  • When one of the players or their racket comes into contact with the net or posts.
  • When the return of the ball occurs before it has crossed the net.
  • When the ball hits the fence or glass directly before bouncing in the rival area.
  • When the player hits the ball and hits the fence or glass of his own playing area.
  • When the impact of the ball is produced by throwing the blade against it.
  • When both players simultaneously hit the ball.

These direct fouls imply the addition of a direct point for one of the two pairs. In this way, any type of hit is allowed as long as one of the aforementioned faults does not occur.

In the same way, in Padel any type of hit possible with thePadel racket is allowed: volleys, shot, viper, drive, etc. as long as the limits established by the regulations are respected.

Other essential padel rules

If Padel shares something with Padel, it is the scoring system. The points won are the following: 15,30,40 and game. In the event that both couples will call 40, the score is called equals and to break the tie a couple must win two points in a row (equals and advantage).

The winning couple of the game will score a point to the overall score. The first to win 6 games with a minimum difference of 2 games will win the first set. If the two pairs reach 5 games then the set will go to 7 games. Finally, if there is a tie at 6 games, the set must be resolved in the tie-break.

The tie-break or sudden death is won by the first couple to reach 7 points, however, in this set the points add up one to one. In other words, the pair with the service starts the game, then the next two points, the rival pair recovers the service and so on until one of the two reaches 7.

On the other hand, in Padel situations occur that without knowing the regulations it is difficult to assess their validity.

One of the exceptional cases occurs when the ball goes off the track, previously bouncing in the rival field. The remaining player may leave the court and hit the ball off the court.

Another of the official padel rules mentions the number of balls to be used in the game and the figure amounts to 2 or 3 balls per game.
